WoodWorks recognizes schools, offices, and community spaces in its 2024 Wood Design Awards

Snøhetta’s Norwegian-inspired, multiuse Vesterheim Commons, a mass timber building at Bowdoin College, and a new Google office complete with a four-story atrium are among the winners of the annual 2024 Wood in Architecture Awards selected by WoodWorks.

As part of the annual 2024 Wood in Architecture Awards, WoodWorks selected seven winning projects. WoodWorks honors design teams using wood—specifically mass timber, light-frame wood, and hybrid building design—in “innovative ways that positively impact the environment, occupants, and communities throughout the U.S.”

“In schools, offices, and community gathering spaces, this year’s winning projects exemplify wood’s undeniably positive influence in modern design,” president and CEO of WoodWorks Jennifer Cover said in a statement.

The independent jury of design and building professionals used four criteria to select the winning projects: design excellence, innovative use of wood, sustainability and resilience, and market impact. This year’s jury included Mike Duffy of RSP Architects, Jennifer Hardy of Goody Clancy, KT Lamb of Anecdote Architectural Experiences, and Anne Monnier of KPFF Engineers.
